The Safety of Vulnerability

Recently whilst speaking to a group of stunning women, I was asked a poignant question about the safety of vulnerability.

I didn’t have a rehearsed answer, but as I responded I reflected on my own journey, and realised that my ability to be vulnerable in my weakness and inadequacy was proportionate to my confidence in God’s love, power and provision in my broken human form.

In simple terms, it’s ok to come and undone, when you know the one.

The one that judges not your failures,
But took them to the cross.
The one that bore your burdens,
Instead of counting your loss.
The one whose life was broken,
So we can be made whole,
The one that sees the beauty,
In our trembling, messy soul.
The one who holds us together,
When we feel all is lost,
The one that sees our future,
And was prepared to pay the cost.
The one that weaves redemption
Through messy and ugly threads,
The one who loses count
Of the times He lifts our heads.
The one who would do it again,
To draw you to His side
The one who fills the gaps,
Of His broken messy bride
.

Our vulnerability becomes freedom when it doesn’t leave us naked but leads us to be clothed by Christ when it covers us in His love, His strength, His power and His perfection.

The great paradox of being broken to be whole, naked to be clothed, inadequate to be adequate, messy to be made and vulnerable to be strong.

Hope this helps someone.

Love Kirrily xx
