The Desert is a Door

“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.

There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.”

Hosea 2:14-15 NIV

Who would have thought that the desert could be a door? Who would have thought that the desert was a meeting place between you and your God? Who would have thought that you and I could be allured by a loving God into a wilderness wild?

That a place sparse, lonely, sometimes barren and often filled with wild animals and unforeseen challenges could be a place God Himself has drawn us into.

It’s been done before you know! God’s people were called into the wilderness to worship. The Spirit of God led the son of God into the wilderness for testing. Moses was prepared in the desert, David in the wilderness. How about you?

This is common terrain for the people of God.

A place where God gets our attention draws us into His arms speaks loud and clear in the piercing silence. A place where we are fed by the supernatural, sustained in drought and watered by heaven.

The desert is not our destination, but it is our preparation (this may be a quote from one of my heroes!).

The desert is not a place to die, but a place to dine with our Beloved King.

When we learn to meet with Him in the wilderness, when we learn to dine, the desert becomes our door.

The arising comes after the clinging.

“She arises from her wilderness clinging to her beloved.” Song of Songs 8:5

Find Him in your wilderness today.
