My Healing Journey

A personal journey into Spirit-Led Integrative Healing

Sometimes it takes an unexpected diagnosis for us to grapple deeply with what we believe about healing.

“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words… for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”

PROVERBS 4:20-22

THE BEGINNING

The
diagnosis
that
changed
everything

I have always believed that God heals. But since being diagnosed with multiple myeloma in September 2024, I have become more convinced than ever of the goodness of God, the power of His Word and His desire to meet us in every part of the healing journey.

On 12 September 2024, after several months of blood tests and investigations, I received a completely unexpected diagnosis. I was told that the disease was incurable and that I would need chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant.

Yet beneath the shock, I experienced an unusual joy and peace in my spirit. Looking back, I believe something within me knew that incurable was not the final word, and that disease could not write the story of my life when God already had.

The first night, I felt drawn to Psalm 91: “With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.” Since then, Scripture has become a series of secure stepping stones beneath my feet - making a path through the wild waters of diagnosis, decisions, treatment and uncertainty.

THE SCENIC ROUTE

Turning aside to listen

From the beginning, I knew that I needed to seek God, listen carefully and take responsibility for the decisions before me. I immersed myself in Scripture and teaching on healing. I sought prayer, asked questions, obtained second opinions and began researching widely.

For me, the diagnosis was like a burning-bush moment: it would not consume me, but I needed to turn aside, pay attention and listen to what God wanted to show me.

After 25 years of senior ministry while raising three boys, I was tired. I began to slow down and change my diet and lifestyle. I embraced colourful, predominantly plant-based food with fish, carefully chosen complementary supports, walking, sunlight, rest, joy and the presence of God. It felt like a return to the garden.

I sensed the Lord taking me on the scenic route to healing - a journey addressing not only what was happening in my blood, but also the accumulated stress carried in my body and soul.

‘Kirrily, you have a vision of My gospel and power going throughout the earth, but I have a vision of your heart. I died for your heart to be made well, whole and healed - and for the fullness of healing to spring from this place.’

This has become one of the deepest revelations of my journey: God is not only interested in removing disease and the gospel filling the earth. He cares about the healing and wholeness of the entire person.

FAITH • DISCERNMENT • WISDOM

A Spirit-Led Integrative Path

Following my diagnosis and acceptance into a clinical trial involving chemotherapy and immunotherapy, I chose to hold off on conventional medical treatment and pursue a path of faith and natural treatment. I had time on my side, and six months later I received the joyful news that the disease was not progressing as expected and I no longer qualify for treatment.

However, life threw a curve ball. During an intensely stressful season caring for my mother after a life-threatening fall, my blood results began moving in the wrong direction.

In January 2026, after much prayer, research and wrestling, I sensed a new grace to begin chemotherapy and immunotherapy. It was not the path I had originally imagined. Yet I came to recognise the hand of God in the timing, the availability of a powerful new treatment, and the wisdom and skill of the doctors, nurses and researchers caring for me.

The essential question is not simply, ‘Which approach should I choose?’ but, ‘Holy Spirit, how are You leading me?’

Spirit, soul & body

AN INTEGRATED VISION

Scripture, prayer, worship, communion with God and the support of faith-filled people. God’s Word has been the clearest and most reliable anchor on the journey.

01

Spirit

Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead while drawing wisely upon the different ways God brings healing and support.

02

Soul

Stress, trauma, emotions, thought patterns, joy, purpose and relationships - allowing God to care for the inner places that need compassion, truth, freedom and rest.

03

Body

Nourishing food, movement, sleep, stress reduction, complementary support and medical treatment - learning to work with the body rather than live disconnected from it.

It' is not a rigid formula. It is a posture of faith, discernment, humility and courage - one step at a time.

WHAT I AM LEARNING

We do not prescribe the path of healing - the Lord does.

Spirit-Led Integrative Healing is not about combining every available approach. It is about discerning what is wise, appropriate and life-giving for the individual journey.

01

Faith, holistic care and medical care do not need to be enemies.

02

God is at work through prayer and the supernatural; through food, herbs, sunshine and the natural world; and through doctors, nurses, researchers, medicine and wise counsel.

03

04

We can listen to medical expertise while retaining our responsibility to ask questions, seek understanding and discern God’s leading.

Healing is rarely one-dimensional. God desires to bring life and wholeness to our spirit, soul and body.

Though I Walk in the Midst of Trouble

A story of stretched capacity, family love and the sustaining presence of God in the midst of trouble.

COMING SOON

HELD BY COMMUNITY

We are not made to walk alone.

Prayer, friendship, encouragement and practical care have carried me through this journey. God’s love has so often arrived through the hands, words and presence of others.

Your story belongs to God, and He has the final authority.

A FINAL WORD OF HOPE

If you are facing a diagnosis or walking beside someone who is, remember that a medical report does not have the authority to tell the whole story of your life.

Take the next step in front of you. Seek wise medical care. Ask questions. Let people support you. Make room for rest. Tend to your spirit, soul and body. Above all, draw close to God and allow His voice to become the loudest voice on the journey.

I am still walking this road, still learning and still believing. My story is not finished - and neither is yours.

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me… The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.”
